    Hi

My SMEG dishwasher is using way too much salt – filled it yesterday – used it once and now the salt light is on again! Also all the plates seemed to be covered in salt!

Any ideas what this could be or more importantly how to fix?

Could really do with it working for Christmas Day?

    Thanks in advance.

    What model?

Is the salt cap back on properly?

    Thanks for replying.

    It’s a SMEG 612.

Checked the salt cap and it seems to be on tight.

    Hi

Remove the salt cap and check that the rubber seal is still in place, and that the cap is not cross threaded when refitted.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Have checked seal of cap and that it is fitting back on properly and it all seems to be okay.

    Grateful for any other ideas?

The only way that I can think of salt getting back into the tub is through the salt cap, I certainly cannot think of anything else causing that type of fault.

Has this one got a regen valve, Ken?

    Dunno, there’s several versions/models that use 612 as a reference. 😕
