Having just restored domestic peace with the purchase of a Miele washing machine, I now find our Smeg cooker has litterly blown a fuse.

The power in the house went off, during cooking. The main oven now refuses to heat up. This cooker is about three years old and appears to have blown the main element.

The lights work – the second (smaller) over works, etc. The fan in the main oven works, but does heat up. I thought I bought a decent cooker, but three years is a bit short!

Any ideas please? What is call-out likely to cost, or could I sort this myself?

    Thanks

    Ian.

    You’ll need one of these:

So not particularly expensive – an engineer will charge for an hours work, so check that out when you make the appointment. Click the link below for a local engineer.

Power off if you wish to do this yourself.

Thank you very much for the information – I have ordered the part. Hope it’s not too difficult to fit!

You are at the top of my Christmas Card list!

New cooker element arrived today, fitted in about 40 minutes.

Less grumpy wife = happy husband 😀

Thank you so much for your help.
