    Hi

I’ve got a Smeg suk62mbl5 cooker and I’ve noticed that the fan isn’t working when I turn the bottom oven off. It usedd to be that when I’d cooked and switched it off the fan would continue to make a noise – I assume to cool down. But it’s stopped doing this now and I hear a very faint buzzing sound instead. Any ideas please? Thanks

well it does sound like a motor trying to run but jammed.

you needs to strip it and find the fan unit and see if its mechanically free

Thanks for the reply. Is this the same fan as the main fan that comes on when you’re cooking?

if you are talking about the fan inside the oven cavity the answer is no. This fan pushes the hot air round the oven

There is a cold air fan to keep the oven controls etc cool mounted inside the casing

on your cooker its this one that’s mounted at the top just above the grill cavity

    Hi Dave

I had a look last night.. when you say top & rear covers are you talking about inside the bottom oven or actually pulling the cooker forward and removing the back cover? I removed the back cover inside, so I could see the fan & element, but you can’t remove the top of the oven. Thanks
