    Hi,

this is only 4 months old but the SMEG Agent can’t get to us for over a week!!

basically, it won’t come on, no fan or anything, we have tried a reset as per the manual, but the only thing that we have is the digital”analogue clock number 6 flashes 3 times every 30 seconds or so

    Anybody any ideas??

I don’t want the engineer to turn up, say he needs parts, and we are stuck cooking in a small oven for Christmas dinner 🙁

    Cheers

set the clock, it needs to be set to manual for it to work

if he comes, and he finds that, he’ll charge you

read the bit in the handbook, about setting the clock

hi, we have reset it – powered off and set the time again with no joy (holding down the center button for a couple of seconds and then setting the time.

it is actually flashing the number 6 twice every ten seconds.

    hope this helps further

    Cheers

as an update, the Smeg service center (who was told by the retailer no heat and a distorted display!!) has contacted SMEG with the symptom of the flashing number 6 and has come back to say they can not guarantee to get the part (Clock/Control unit) by Christmas so the service center is trying to arrange a swap out with with a new one – they have them in stock.

Also, the retailer is looking at a possible solution but have not come back to me.

A question I have though is if I get offered a refund by the retailer, should I stick with SMEG or move to another brand?? If so, which would you recommend??

    Many thanks

    Steve

to be fair, other than that merloni rubbish, ovens are much of a muchness… smeg do tend to be better quality, although i do tend to push people towards neff/bosch… extremely reliable, good build quality and readily available parts should they break down!

so choice is yours, remember, its all about keeping your appliance working, and workin well… theres not many cookers beat smeg

I dare say we would have had the part on the van andgot to the customer inside of a week though.

    Hi Guys,

refreshing this thread. The oven eventually got fixed 2 days before Christmas – if the part hadn’t arrived by then we would have been without an oven over Christmas and New Year!

Well arrived home last night to the Wife saying the oven has gone again – exactly the same symptoms so I feel I have to agree with helo_75 above.

Really hacked off by this and also the Vendors complete disregard for consumer rights.

Right off SMEG now namely for reliability and part availability and want a replacement (different brand) or a refund

    Anyway – just an update

    Cheers
