ParticipantCan anyone fill in a couple of blanks please?
Woke up in the middle of the night (always happens at night!) to the sound of the dishwasher pump.
the machine appears to be attempting to go through its wash cycle as per normal but with the drain pump on all the time…..
is the signal for the pump just from the timer unit or does it have a signal to say its ’empty, switch off ‘?
I have manualy filled the machine, then turned it on (new cycle)pump runs as do the spray bars until the water all drains away. the timer rotates but the pump remains running. (both drain and recircle)
I overode the door switch and added a pint of water, spray appears but water drained off asap!!
So can anyone help? if its a new timer it may be me oof to the sales (well timed I suppose..) or may I have a sender buggered/clogged up?
any thoughts?

DWF62WH?
Drain pump will run continuously if the flood protection system is activated. Drain the tray under the machine to reset, then find the leak.
Power off, of course.

Thanks for the reply. I did find a very small amount of water under there, strangely enough at the front by the ultra light flood float! I had put it down to a splash due to turning it on its side….
No sign of a leak, maybe from exuberant filling/sloshing half empty glasses during filling the machine 😳
thanks again Penguin45.

ParticipantHello,
I have a Smeg Dishwasher Model STA6248-9 that refuses to stop draining?
I have read the overflow thing but cant seem to gain access to the drip tray beneath the machine. When I remove the kick plate beneath the machine I am confronted with a plastic panel with no visible screws or fastening? Not being overly technically minded this has me baffled. Can anyone help?January 24, 2020 at 1:56 pm #199032electrofix
Moderatorsome smeg panels have plastic latches that you have to unlock to remove them
if you still cant do it you can tilt the machine slowly back to allow the water to drian out or
post a pic so we can see the panel clearly

ParticipantUPDATE!
So, inspired I had another look this morning.
I managed to remove the plastic front cover behind the kick plate and inspect the drip tray which is completely dry?
the pump still runs constantly and the machine beeps 5 times?
Do I need a new pump?January 25, 2020 at 1:51 pm #199034electrofix
Moderatorno the pump is working but don’t know why
you say its a new timer, have you just fitted the timer or has it been working ok for a while

ParticipantHi Dave,
Sorry I meant to say, thank you for your quick responses. Your help is REALLY appreciated!
So, this is the first time we have had a problem with this dishwasher. We have never used or even know of a timer on it.
All I can tell you is we switch it on, it beeps 5 times and the far left light on the display flashes (sorry the little icons have worn off over time)
And the pump continues all the time.
I’ve tried boiling water and the pump just clears the water and continues to work.
I’m stumped.hu
Is there a way of resetting the machine?Thank you
