My dishwasher is doing an E8 error which a read of the forums is the alternator/diverter.

My question is, is this related to the rinse aid system at all? It only started doing it after we filled the rinse aid dipsenser, and it only throws the error when it comes to the rinse cycle bit as far as I can tell. (gets to the third light which has a dotted shower symbol)

Is it a coincidence that it packed up after filling up the rinse aid?

    thanks

Sounds like a coincedence, to be honest.

The dispenser solenoid is a known culprit for causing corruption issues, but yours is bringing up a straight error code. The computer has detected that the alternator valve is out of circuit. It’s a solenoid device, so the coil may well have failed. You should get a reading in kOhms if you meter it.

P/no 813050117 if you wish to replace – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one promptly.

Power off if you are investigating this yourself.

Thanks. Water seems to be coming out of all the arms correctly for the wash cycle, and the soap is released as it should be. It’s just when it gets to rinse that it beeps, pumps out and shows the error.

do you need to take quite a lot of it apart to get to it. My manual doesn’t cover this 😉

The valve is on the outlet side of the circulation pump, so you’ll need to drag it out and tip it back for access. The centre panel of the base will pull away for access.

Article about corruption issues can be found HERE.

thanks – for reasons that are unclear, it has started working again. maybe it was threat of being tipped up that made it play nice.

It’s now saying it needs more rinse aid, despite being filled up yesterday. I think I’ll ignore it.
