ParticipantHi,
My dishwasher is now playing up permanently!
It is less than 2 years old and about 3 months ago it started to intermittently display the above error however, switching the machine off and then back on seemed to reset it.
Now though the fault always occurs, it always goes through the prewash and then stops without opening the soap dispenser.
Basically the wash cycle goes as follows:
Select program/shut door.
Pump switches on/can hear water running
spray arms going around
Pump switches on/can hear water running
spray arms going around
Pump switches on/can hear water running
spray arms going around
Single ‘beep’
Pump on again
Stops.open door and second light flashes and last light (5th) is on static
I called out an engineer (recommended by smeg) he didn’t even know what fault he was coming out to look at , asked for the instruction book (which I didn’t have although I have printed one off now – my error isn’t in it) and then proceeded to check the antiflood device, clean the chamber on the side of the machine and then disconnect and reconnect the connector on the soap dispenser – needless to say none of this worked. He now doesnt have a clue what is causing the fault and I haven’t seen or heard from him for 2 weeks!
I have checked the manual and the above error is not listed
After reading other problems and replies here I have changed the pcb board as other errors sounded very similar but it is still displaying the same problem – any suggestions – you don’t have any engineers listed for my postcode (BH17)
please reply asap – my fingers are getting very wrinkly with all the washing up!!!!!!!!

Strictly speaking E1 is the anti flood system tripped. This can be the undertray flooded, causing the float switch to operate. Solution, drain the undertray, find the leak.
However………. The float can be jammed in the “up” position, giving the fault, the switch itself can go faulty, wiring and connectors can play up and finally, the “timer” (computer board) can be faulty.
When the fault occurs, the drain pump should run for about 1.5 mins – if it runs on indefinitely, the timer is most likely at fault.
If your repairer was a SMEG approved agent, the first thing to do is kick up a dust with them.
If you’re going to have a peek yourself, pull the plug first :plug: .

Belay that – should read the post properly. 2nd light flashing is the infamous E2 problem, not E1. Extensively reported throughout the forum for Diplomat and SMEG dishwashers….. Water level control problem, normally due to sludging up of lower tubes and fill matrix.
Sorry about that,
