ParticipantHi, my smeg DW614ss developed a problem with no warning signs and no error code.
It shows the usual display(time to finish) and has the usual 2 beeps to start, makes as if to start for a second then stops with 2 beeps… then no more.
The display remains unchanged with the time to finish.
I’ve cleaned the filters and checked the outlet pipe is clear and that water supply ok to inlet pipe, also checked there are no leaks. The water inlet pipe has the aquastop attached so not so easy to check.
Any help appreciated even a clue as to if it’s not something I can fix is a repair worth it, it’s been a good machine and looks like new.
Many thanks for your timeJune 17, 2010 at 11:58 pm #322327Penguin45

1/ Sticky buttons (unlikely)
2/ Corruption issue – mains suppressor or soap box release solenoid breaking down will affect the computer (good bet)
3/ PCB failed (entirely possible)Penguin45.

Thanks Penguin
do you thinks it’s worth the £165 fixed all inclusive price Smeg quoted to repair any fault (gives another year of service or money back if it’s non repairable).
The machines about 6yrs old and has been faultless up to now or would it be better spent on a new machine??Thanks again

Sounds reasonable – you’ll pay that for the PCB alobe easily.

It seems a good deal, just didn’t want it to be a £10 faulty part and not get full value out of it!!

Just an update if it helps anyone with a similar fault.
Engineer has just been…. and the machine has 2 faults. The timer went on the PCB causing 240v to be continuously delivered to to soap dispenser and therefore taking that out with it!
So needs new PCB and soap dispenser (10days wait for the PCB), all in all it would have cost an arm and a leg to fix so I’m very pleased with the deal (hoping they won’t come back and say it’s uneconomical to fix) .So thanks again for your help Penguin
Cheers
