    HI all,

    Hope you can help.

I would like reset my SMEG DWF66 as thru a seies of key presses our dishwasher is stuck displaying something like ‘C7’, but with the right hand of the top two dashes that make up the ‘7’ missing.

This state has occured after a series of keypresses by accident resulteed in the machine going thru various short cycles – C1 – C3 and more. Didnt keep that close an eye on it as we thought it was running.

The bottom of the machine has not drained so i guess it could be a drainage problem, but it is not the E .. whatever error that would indicate this.

I think that we have had a similar problem in the past and called out an engineer, only for him to do a series of actions that reset the machine and that was it – sorted. I cant find a reset procedure anywhere on the web.

    All help / comments appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Martin

    Re: SMEG DWF66 Reset Procedure?

dam sorry guys – wrong description of the error code.

    The 1st character is ‘C’

The 2nd has 3 of the 7 ‘bars’ on > btm left, top right and top are on.

(top left, middle, btm right & btw are off)

    Cheers,

    Martin

    Re: SMEG DWF66 Reset Procedure?

If it’s dispaying C rather than E then there’s a problem with the main control unit by the sound of it 🙁

Engineer time to be honest though as other component failures can cause software issues with these Smegs..

If you want to try the “reset” procedure, use the search facility for Smeg/Diplomat and reset 😉

    Re: SMEG DWF66 Reset Procedure?

    Dave,

Thanks for your quick response 🙂

My main aim here is to try a reset before calling an engineer. However I cant find a reset procedure anywhere on the site that seems to fit with my machine. Both reset procedures i found refered to a ‘program button’ – which i dont think our machine has – DWF 66. There are only 2 buttons – 1/2 Load & Start/Stop.

I would really appreciate any help you give me or point me to that tells me how to reset my machine.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: SMEG DWF66 Reset Procedure?

Curious – how do you set the programme? As this is a Brandt-built machine the re-set procedure is not applicable – this was for the SMEG appliances, although most digital dishwashers have a programme cancel method if not an actual re-set.

    Penguin,

Thasnks for your reply – so late on a sunday as well!

It has a dial to set the program.

    Manual here : http://www.smegtech.com/site/smeg/pdf_l … 900-GB.pdf

Thanks with any help you can give.

It’s not a Brandt, it is Smeg.

With the curious error message I’d tend to agree with Dave TBH, it sounds like a duff PCB.

    Re: SMEG DWF66 Reset Procedure?

    Guys,

    Thanks again dfor your responses.

However, although I have no experience in these matters, I suspect it is not ness an error code that is displaying.

I am sure this happened before and we had an engineer out who took two seconds to reset it and that was it.

I would love to try a reset procedure before paying £50+ for a an engineer call out when it may jsut need a reset.

Hope someone can point me to a reset procedure for this machine?

    Cheers,

    Martin

Ha – it sort of works on the wife’s SupaPuta – you’re stuck in the test cycle – the “C” codes are used to indicate progress through this. Unfortunately, it’s as clear as mud how to get out of the test cycle 🙁 .

    Re: SMEG DWF66 Reset Procedure?

YE! Thats what it was last time – stuck in the test cycle … least if we know that we wont call an engineer.

Any answers from you dishwasher superbrains out there would be welcomed –

    Once again – thanks

    Re: SMEG DWF66 Reset Procedure?

Ok, I think I’ve got it – once the test sequence has started, you’ve got to run all of it. However, it stops at C4 and C9 – you have to press “start” for it to continue. When it finishes, open the door, switch off, wait and switch on again. Normal programming should return.

And have a little word with the small person in the house about pushing buttons…..

    Re: SMEG DWF66 Reset Procedure?

Penguin – I feel we are getting close … but still not there.

I had already run thru the whole test sequence.

I have now tried the ‘open the door, switch off, wait and switch on again’ several times but still no joy.

My good lady is gonna call Smeg in the morning see if they will give us the ‘escape from test mode’ procedure. Why this isnt in the manual is beyond me.

And although we do have a little button pusher in the house – it was this big button pusher that did it!

We may get a solution from Smeg – if so I will post FYI, in the meantime 1st to get the solution wins …. ehm … lots of gratitude!

    Cheers,

    M

    Re: SMEG DWF66 Reset Procedure?

Spoken to Smeg this morning – they can give me no technical assistance on the phone and the only option they give is for me to call our local Smeg Qualified engineer.

My only gripe is they are insisting on calling out when I believe that all we need is the ‘reset procedure’ or ‘ get out of test mode’ procedure.

The company Smeg gave me are Appliance Repairs Ltd (http://www.nwac.co.uk) who are listed in your Repairs@ so I reckon they are a decent enough outfit. I just wish Smeg would publish the technical information required to perform basic maintenance and recovery operations.

Any one out there know how to reset/escape from test??

    Cheers,

    Martin
