SMEG DWI 410 no water from the spray arms

Our washer has stopped washing, the problem seems to be that there is no sprayed water. The water filter is clean, the water flows in the plastic body on the right of the machine. The motor does not spin, but does get warm.

It seems that the motor has gone and at about £150 to replace it may not be economic.

Does this fit with a motor failure and is it as difficult and costly to repair as I am suspecting? Are there any other reasons for the motor not working – controller etc

Having done a search, it seems that the way forward is to get a new capacitor and try his out? It is a 6uf Itafarad. Not the easiest thing to unscrew but is out.

There are two solutions to this, both of which involve the use of No.1 earhole.

After the machine has filled, can you hear a faint humming noise? If you can, there is power going to the motor and the capacitor may well be the solution; unless the pump is jammed by a foreign body. You’ll need one of THESE.

If you can hear the motor whirring away, the impellor may have sheared from the pump shaft and may not be moving the water. A pump housing and impellor kit may be required.

Stay safe – power off if working on the machine.

Hello, the capacitor arrived, slightly confused with having 4 connections. I checked it and there were pairs that had no resistance and pairs with high resistance. I have used the non conducting connections – but the motor does not start.

Should I be using the conducting connections or is this a sign that the motor or controller is broken.
