Smeg DWI 46 does not heat

I have a Smeg DWI 46, type 12140. The program seems to run quite normal although dishes don’t get clean properly.

There is the malfunction signal E3, unable to heat the water. Does this mean the heater element does not work – which might be worth to call the service and change – or what else could it be?

As there is no warranty or insurance on this appliance I am reluctant to invest a lot.

Not exactly – it means that no rise in temperature has been detected in the time allowed. Heater is possible culprit, also safety thermostat tripped or PCB failure.

Complex machine, so professional help is your best way to proceed.

Power off if you intend to investigate it yourself.
