What a god send of a forum google found for me 🙂

I have the above DW and it has been playing up for about 3 days, it finally showed me an E3 error code today after leaving it on again. I checked the error code and the unit does appear to be getting hot; if I recall it also takes its hot water from the boiler which is working great.

I have tried to remove the unit to see if there is anything obvious wrong. I cant, there is a winder on the front to wind the rear leg down but it doesnt seem to do anything in either direction!!! Arrrgggggghhhh. I cant get the unit out as the rear leg catches on the tiling and is not low enough to be able to get it out!

    Anyone have any clues please?

I tried my local Smeg engineer but they are off on hols for a week! Arrrggghhh. Smeg said they were the only ones in my area. Any engineers servicing Portsmouth?

    Many thanks

Try our repairs @service, click here:
    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … whitegoods

The leg problem is common on any intergrated dishwasher and is one of the many problems we encounter every day! 😥

There is a good chance though that it will not need to be taken out to repair this and 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of any future problem you may have. E3 is a no heat indication, if you are running off hot water (it shouldnt be really) then it will be difficult for you to tell if it is heating or not.
If you do have a fiddle, ensure the plug is out first.

Hi and thanks for the reply 🙂

I tried the link but it reports no engineers in my area!

I assume then that the leg problem isnt one the is overcome and the dishwasher is stuck then?!?!

All the “gubbins” appear to be located on the bottom of the machine, how can these be replaced without removing the machine? Im shocked!

No problems with the plug its fused on the wall and turning it off was the 1st job 🙂

    Thanks

There’s a resettable thermostat in amongst the gubbins which may have tripped.

Since you’re filling it with hot water 😡 it’s hard to say whether the machine is still able to heat the water itself. If the stat has tripped then the machine will recognise this and display a fault code, regardless of the actual temperature of the water inside.

These machines are designed to be run off a cold water supply and heat the water internally as required during the programmes.

    Hi,
So is this thermostat something someone who is handy and capable able to try and reset or is it only doable by an engineer?

I believe it may actually be cold water connected after all. It appears to have filled with some water and the boiler didnt kick off. If it is cold water then the machine does appear to heat it as of the last cycle. Although the noise from the machine doesnt sound normal!

If the water is still heating from a cold fill then it’s not your reset stat.

Try a search in this forum for Smeg or Diplomat dishwasher & reset thermostat if you would like to rule it out of the equation for sure; there have been a few previous posts on this. I’m sure Penguin45 posted on this within the last few weeks.

Power off before investigating please :zap:

You would be amazed at what we can do sometimes. Anything to avoid a difficult appliance removal.

your problem could be the heater relay cutting off before full temp is reached or, even a blocked top spray arm as the thermostats are in the door and if it isnt turning they dont know the true temp, take ’em off and clean them.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I checked the arms, they are free from clogs and dirt. Ive searched on here for reset of the thermostat but I cant locate mine – is it behind the metal on the door? Nothing in the machine and Ive removed the lower panel where the dryer (?) comes out to get at the workings underneath but I still cannot see a reset switch. Any more clues or do I need to wait until next week when the engineer is back?

    Thanks muchly

The reset thermostat is near the heater, quite near the back 😉

Open the door and look at the left hand side of the base. Underneath the element you’ll see the thermostat poking up from below – the reset is on the other side of that.

    Pull the plug first.

Re: Smeg DWI 67.1 E3 Error Code and cant get rear leg down!

Again thanks for all the support guys but Im still lost. Now Im not a fool and am handy with a spanner and mechanical and electrical things normally! 🙄

I scrambled around on the floor and poked around underneath and I dont see anything that could be a thermostat or anything that is resetable!

If I open the door all I see is the metal lining of the machine, the door for the cleaner/rinse and on the side 2 ports that appear to be for drying. There is no element exposed in the machine itself and no thermostat poking through either!

I can post pics if that helps.

If I could just get the damn leg to work and the machine out I could get it on its side for a proper poking 🙂

Are you sure ? The Smeg diagram clearly shows an exposed heater for this model 😕

It’s underneath the lower basket 😉

    Hi Dave,
Im sure yes 🙂 I have emailed you the pictures as requested. As you will see there is no exposed element.

    Thanks 🙂

Smeg often use a common parts diagramm. Yours may be the tubular element then. No reset on that one but usually very relaible.
