    Hi there

I appear to have a very simiar fault – did you get any advice on how to fix?
I think the error lights were #1 flashing and #5 constant (not sure) and have never been able to get this sequence to happen again.

Fault is that the machine appears to freeze within 2 mins of starting a new cycle. I can hear water pumping in but it never progresses to a wash cycle, appearing instead to freeze with nothing happening. When I open the door I the water heating element is red hot with little or no water in the bottom of the machine.

I’ve followed Penguins advice on resetting the machine however it keeps freezing on all cycles. I have used manufacturers guide of press and holding the programme selector for 5 seconds to move it to the end of the cycle before trying again. I then get lights 4 & 5 Flashing. Please help!

1st flashing, 5th lit is flood protection activated, however, you say that this was a one-off. It sounds more like you have a problem with the circulation pump – fill should be followed by recirculation. Can you hear a faint humming noise after the fill sequence? The pump is a capacitor start and run device – over time, the capacitor loses its ability to charge and whilst the motor will get power (the hum), it doesn’t get the required delay from the capacitor to start it. Alternatively, the pump could be jammed and unable to turn.

Test on the soak cycle, btw – no heat. Power off if going in to investigate.

    Hi Penguin45 – thanks

Just stated clean cycle again to report back as acurately as possible.
Water goes in and 10 seconds later the humm starts, then there is alteration between water in, and the humm. After about 3 mins, all goes quiet except for the what I guess sounds like faint power vibration of possbly the element heating up.

Sounds like a stuck motor to me…….. Capacitor is HERE and is cheap enough.

I would advise dragging it out and having a look underneath before actually ordering.
