ParticipantEvening All, I need your help again!
Within one week we’ve had to replace the washing machine (counter weight fell off drum during spin and ripped a hole in the drum sending it bouncing across the utility!) Tumble Dryer broke…Now fixed thanks to UK Whitegoods, and now the flaming dishwasher. Aghhhhh
The problem….I’ve been on this hours, now I’m fed up.
Smeg DWI 710 E1 Dishwasher Stops cycle after a few minutes. When you set the programe and close the door, you can hear the pump kick in for 30 seconds or so, then you can hear water flowing, then you can hear the pump again, then water flowing, then there’s a sudden burst which sounds like the spray arms going around (you can hear water spraying from them) but it only lasts I would think for one revolution/ no more that 1 second then the pump comes on again and repeats the whole cycle above three times. Then there’s a single long ‘beep’ (approx. 2 seconds) then the pump can be heard again (presumably emptying) then that’s it! The whole thing lasts about 5 minutes. When I then open the door it’s clear that there’s not been much water in there (exept from the sudden burst of activity from the spray arms which lasts no more that a second), and the outermost lights are on solid ( OOOOO )
which doesn’t correspond to any of smegs fault codes in the menu.Recap:
-Select program/shut door.
-Pump switches on/can hear water running (this cycles a few times).
-Sudden burst from spray arms going around (1 second).

-Single ‘beep’
-Pump on again
-Stops.
-Open door and the outermost lights are solid on ( OOOOO )What I’ve done so far: Cleaned the filters & checked for blockages. It was pretty clean inside.
THOUGHT I’D SOLVED IT!
During the day we’ve kept selecting programs and closing the door, sometimes it would keep going for longer and once it lasted 10 minutes or so and upon opening the door was full and hot so thinking that it was a buildup of grease etc. I went out and brought some Finish Dishwasher Cleaner (the bottle that you put in upside down on a 65 Deg.+ wash). It went through a complete cycle amazingly! and I thought I’d cracked it. Put the Sunday lunch plates it and guess what….the same problem as an hour previous.Any ideas anyone? What does the single beep then outermost lights solidly lit mean ( OOOOO )
Please let it be something simple 😥All the best.

KeymasterDave,
It’s an E9 error according to the sheet I have although that code displayed can also be E1, handy eh? But that’s only on the earlier timers…
On the later ones it’s our old pal, the E2 error (that’s two tonight alone :?) and it’s really an engineer case to solve the problem, it’s not a DIY fix IMHO. From what you describe it’s an E2 fault, if you search the forums you’ll get loads of info on it.

Thanks K.
I put it on again after I posted the message and it’s just gone through a whole cycle without issue. Is this ‘E2’ Fault you mention intermittent.
Should I lookup someone local out of the yellow pages or can anyone recommend who to call in the Stourbridge, West Midlands, DY5 area. Where should I go to get a fair service and avoid getting ripped off?
Cheers

KeymasterThe E2 can be intermittent (boy we just love those intermittent faults…NOT! :?) but generally when it happens it tends to keep happening, there are a few things that can cause the fault to occur though.

There are a couple of the guys in your area in our Directory…

If there’s any hassles come back to us but generally it’s preferable to get someone that’s familiar with these products as they can be a bit tricky at times.
