I have a smeg DWI612 dishwasher and it does not seem to be starting its program. When selecting program its seems to empty dishwasher then fill then does nothing. You can here it open the soap dispenser but nothing happens after that. I tried putting it on a number 1 program. Its emptied filled then nothing. It beeped at the end of the cycle but did nothing. HELP PLEASE. 😡

Sounds like a faulty or jammed re-circulation pump.

    Is that a costly repair?

    Possiblities:
    1) Pump jammed by blockage – no parts required – strip down and clear. You engineer will bill for at least an hour – if it’s integrated, an hour and a half unless you remove the appliance from the housing in advance.

    2) Motor failing to start due to capacitor failure (Can you hear a faint humming?). Capacitor £15-£25 depending on exactly which one required. Labour as above.

    3) Motor failed. Nasty – certainly over £100 for pump, labour as above.

However, SMEG is a decent enough brand, so worth having investigated. Do check out the labour rates when you make your call to the engineers.
