ParticipantHi Folk,
I’ve got the above SMEG dishwasher which has just reported the Error Code 6 which says the dishwasher fails to drain)
I’ve tried cleaning the filters and also the reset (which I found in this site – thanks) but still no joy.
According to SMEG, there are 3 causes for this fault :
kinked drain hose
Pressure Switch Fault (£18 )
Drain Pump Fault (£39)Is there anything else I can try before calling the engineer.
I’ve had the lower panel off and have identified the Pressure switch, but I cant locate the Drain Pump. Also have difficulty removing the dishwasher from its location (tight isnt the word!!!). Drain hose wont be kinked (impossible to get to it)
Thanks for anything you can throw my way.

Does it actually drain or not?

ParticipantI believe it does
I undid the drain pipe where it connects under the sink and learned that I should have really moved everything out of the way first!!!!
water poured out so yes – it does drain
Why it is reporting the problem is beyond me.
I tried filling it up manually with some additional water to see if it would help with the draining. Currently waiting to see if it still reports the error.

If you are certain that the machine is pumping out fully, the problem will lie with the water level control system. The code means no drain detected in the time allowed, so the pressure switch may have failed in the closed position, or there is a blockage in the chambers or pipework preventing the switch from de-pressurising.
Power off before you start pulling panels off.
