Smeg DWI612C No power fault

Hi there, would really appreciate some helpfull advice if possible.

I have owned a Smeg DWI612C Dishwasher for the last 3 years with no problems at all, until yesterday :-(.

At some point during a cycle it turned off and no matter what I try now it doesn’t do anything. There is a live feed from the mains which goes through what I believe to be the mains supressor at the back of the machine. Power is received at the on/off switch and pressing the switch to on gives a live feed to the door microswitch and the white wire that goes to the Timer board.
When the machine is switched on nothing happens, there’s no lights, no noise and no action!!
I have had a good look around the machine for any obvious blown parts or faults but everything seems to be fine.

I must hold my hands up and admit that I didn’t fit a 13amp fuse to the wall switch, this may of saved this problem from happening but its been fine for the last 3 years and never got around to switching the socket over.

Any advice would be appreciated and believe me I am carefull when looking around electrics, got a shock many years back, it only happens once and you never forget to take the fuse out again!!!!

Key – for the record and the safety of future readers, UKW will not condone, assist you with, and will actively discourage live testing. It should not be neccessary for circuit chasing.

However, seeing as you did – the PCB will almost certainly be the culprit, and the dispenser is probably the reason.

PCB – p/no 816290672- about £100
Dispenser – p/no 812890063 – about £60

Plus VAT and delivery…….. spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will confirm prices and supply for you. You’re tight for delivery before Christmas, though.

Given the expense involved, I would seriously suggest professional help to confirm this diagnosis. Given the component cost, an enginners labour will be quite small by comparison.

Thx for the your reply and concern penguin, Looks like a new Dishwasher is in order as dont fancy shelling out over 100 quid on a 3 year old machine. Time for the ebay graveyard for the old smegs parts LOL.
