ParticipantHi,
We have a 6 year old SMEG DWI612C that has recently stopped working. On a normal wash program it gets to what looks like the rinse or near the end of the rinse and then sits there giving short buzzing noises as though a pump or similar is trying to work but can’t.
Opening the door shows clean plates and just the one program light lit steadily (not flashing).
The program can be changed if the machine is left turned off (not at the mains) overnight and the soak program runs OK – not tried any others yet.Any ideas appreciated before I call out an engineer.
Cheers.

Sounds like a pretty classic corruption issue to me. Better have a read of THIS.

Hi
I have a similar problem with my DI 614 H. Have you managed to solve your problem yet.
On my machine I have a 3/1 button ( for 3 in 1 detergent capsules). I never normally use it, but discovered that by pressing it when I have the problem, it continues through the cycle and finishes normally? I expect that will also go wrong soon.
I would be grateful if you have discovered what your fault is.

Hi UncleD, the engineer came out and said it was the circuit board and pump. It only failed when it got hot. It worked out better value to replace the machine rather than repair it and have something else go wrong a few months later. The machine was 5 years old already.
Don’t know if it is the same problem as yours – hope you can get it fixed cheaply!September 14, 2009 at 9:48 am #294784Holty

Hi, i have the same fault. Stops, beeps and tries to continue with the selected program light flashing. Waste water in the bottom of dishwasher.
Davelad have you replaced your dishwasher yet? i have the same model. Perhaps you may have spare parts i could buy off you?
Uncle D have you got to the bottom of your problem yet?
My hands are going seriously soft from all the washing up!!
Cheers

I’m afraid the old dishwasher is now long gone.

Hi DaveLad
Shame you had to buy a new one. smeg spares are seem very expensive.
Hi Holty
Have not fixed mine yet, but I have discovered that by pressing the 3/1 button (I don’t think all machines have one) when it stops the machine carries on through the cycle normally. A bit of a pain, and I expect it will finally fail eventually.
If you go to this linkhttp://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ge&pid=316
there is an explaination from one of the moderators about what the problem might be
