Called today to the above and was supprised at the door latch setup. The latch looked like the standard Smeg item but had a red plastic moulding attached to the side of it. This was linked to what looked like some kind of interlock fitted to to the facia. The outer cabinet door had a bracket fitted to it with a large pin, Which engagaged in this interlock. Never have come across this setup before, So was a bit flumoxed as to how it works. The outer door had a lable attached which stated that if the cabinet door weighed more than 12 Kilos, Remove the red peg fitted to the interlock. The door weighed just over 12 kilos, but im confused as it had 2 peg holes but only one peg 😕 The reported fault was the door was not latching, Replaced the missing peg with a screw and all works ok, trouble is the cabinet door line is out by about 25mm. Any smeg experts out there?

This is Smegs excellent sliding door which enables the outer decor panel to be slid down 30mm or so once the door is closed. This not only locks the door to stop kids opening it, it also exposes a second normaly hidden display so the user can see how long to go etc. It basicly is a repeat of the main display on the top of the door. clever huh! Most customers dont even know they have this feature and its a good way to impress them when I go in and slide the door down.
Cannot tell you whats wrong with yours Goose, assuming its been ok since installation i cannot imagine there is any problem with the instalation. The usual problem is the latch coming loose inside the facia due to a broken console panel.

    Cheers, Eastlmark
Thought I was The only one who had come across this model. The trouble is the Kitchen installer has fitted a screw through the door innner panel to lock the cabinet panel at the correct height to match the adjacent door line, So now the cust is not happy at having a 30mm gap at the top of the DW door. I wondered why there way another display behind the cab door 😕 Would it be possible to fit the standard Smeg latch and do away with this Heath Robinson device ❓ Living In Hope.

This is a feature of only to top of the range intergrated models. Not sure you can mess with the spec that much you may have to fit the door panel correctly.
