ParticipantHi
In need of help and advice. My SMEG DWI614, won’t close? It’s an integrated model which has been working fine for the last 3yrs. Have tried to close, but seems like the catch is locked on the door?
Another issue, most likely related, is that the when you press the programme button nothing happens and is stuck on P0. Have tried to switch of power and restart – when I do that it bleeps twice?
I don’t see any of the faulty codes given in the user manual?
Many thanks

Sounds like the ‘grabber’ in the door lock has rocked over as though the door is actually shut, in which case you can very carefully prise it back again…two small thin screwdrivers (one each side of the grabber) carefully inserted through the small slot in the top of the door.
Be careful not to bend the stainless steel (there’s a bit of a knack to doing it), and when it’s reset back to the open position you should be able to program the machine however you need to check the alignment of the door to ensure it doesn’t happen again. This is not adjustable so if it’s misaligned you be best to get professional advice on how easy/expensive it will be to correct.
If the door alignment is ok then the cause is wear in the door lock which will need replacing.
If you need professional help then try the Repairs@ link below for someone near you.
Don’t forget, power off before doing anything

I agree with CJ – if the computer knows the door is shut due to the position of the door latch, it will not programme.

Did the trick 😀 A big :salute: to you both.
After running one cycle the grabber was stuck again! Any suggestions ❓

As I said earlier….you have a misalignment somewhere…if you are absolutely sure the door is straight and the hinges undamaged (one quick test is to open the door fully and check that it doesn’t drop past horizontal) then you will need a new door lock.
Have a look here for the part

Pair of pliers and bend the wire loop down a little usually solves it……..

Just found out that our 11mth son decided to climb into the dishwasher a few days ago 😯 So I guess his weight on the door could have caused misalignment. I have to lift the door slightly to close it now…. what now 😕 ❓

Professional help to be honest tanky, there will be bending to the hinges and possibly more…a careful inspection with an experienced eye should determine the extent of the damage and hence the cost 😉

Did that and spoke to someone from . Called them out, £20 call out charge..seemed reasonable…Was very disappointed with the diagnostics 👿 Why….Well I’d left the door grabber back in it’s original state and explained I thought the door was misaligned and I couldn’t re program.
The so called professional opinion was…the PC board needed to be replaced at a cost of £175… 😯 or for a little more money he could get me a Bosch appliance…just a warning for those who come across this company.

Door hinges are what you need…….
681330614 – r/h
681330615 – l/hspares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will price them up and source them for you. Screwdriver and a few nuts and bolts job if you are brave enough – the edges of the inner door panel are lethally sharp; failing that use an alternative local company to fit them for you – they’ll certainly charge for an hours work.
