    Hi,
I’ve found this forum helpful in the past when my oven packed up. This time it’s my dishwasher, well the dishwasher left in the house I just moved into. It’s a Smeg DWI614 and it’s integrated. It’s been working ok for the last 2 weeks but simply stopped working.

It has a digital display which can only be seen when the door is open (so you never know where you are in a cycle, for this reason was running it overnight to ensure it was finished by morning). Anyway I set it as usual to P4 and shut the door when it should just start up. It didn’t and won’t. Have tried numerous attempts on different programmes but just not doing anything when I close the door. The buttons are also “sticking” so when I turn it on at the on/off button I can only press the P button once or twice before they stick and won’t move. The only button that seems ok is the half load function.

When I do turn it on at the on/off button I can hear it make a whirring sound and the same when I close the door but it doesn’t do anything.

I read another post on here that suggested something about it thinking the door is closed even when it’s open but I don’t know how to check this…?

As the machine is integrated I haven’t been able to get to the plug so am unable to switch mains power off.

Sorry for such a long message and REALLY hope someone can help me.

    with thanks in advance…

Re: Smeg DWI614 – not starting up

It sounds like the PCB is playing up. If the door lock was in the closed position, you wouldn’t be able to operate any of the buttons.

The PCB is an expensive item, so you would be best advised to get some pro help on this one.

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply, am not very teckie but assuming PCB to be printed circuit board….? Looks like an engineer might be in order then.

    Thanks again.
