Smeg DWI701E1 runs OK but will not stop running

This machine is 8 years old and has been fine but now it will not switch off, it starts OK, tablet drops and every thing goes fine it keeps going beep-beep and keeps washing on and on, I have to stop it by pressing the select button till the 2 red lights show and the it drains out, I have looked at the PCB and cannot any marks or burns the main suppressor looks OK no brown marks,no red warning lights come on at all and the heater works fine,any other suggestions please?

Sounds very much like the pcb itself i’m afraid, not unknown on a Smeg 😕

Thanks Clive I was afraid it would be the PCB, it always has to be the most expensive item.

(sorry to jump in on this problem) i also have a smeg which was not heating the water, i was told that it was the heating element so i replaced it with a new one, but now the cycle wont shut down and it still aint producing any hot water!!! where as before i replaced the element it would run for around 15minutes then stop ive cleaned the pipes out but still no joy!!
if you could possibly forward on any method on what it could be it would be most appriciated (ILL HOLD OFF WITH THE GRINDER & LUMP HAMMER 4 NOW !!)

Again, sounds like a pcb…worth a quick visual check for dry joints but they don’t seem to suffer with these as badly as some other makes.

Also worth running a meter along the heater circuit to check for loose connections/broken wires etc but if the old heater let go in a big way the chances are it took the pcb with it i’m afraid…
