Hello,
We have a Smeg DWI710E1 dishwasher, when we set a programme and shut the door two short beeps are emitted and nothing further happens.
It we open the door after a short time the panel indicates that the programme is still set normally. If we leave the door shut then, as I say, nothing happens though after a while the panel lights change to #1 flashing and #5 steady.
This error code is supposed to indicate that the flooding system has been activated however their is only a little water in the bottom of the drain well and no sign of a leak (I have looked in the under tray), there is also no sign of a blockage in the drain pipe.
I have searched the forum and references to this error code sequence only relate to the machine stopping mid cycle, this fits with a previous occasion we experienced when the same error code was present. On that occasion the machine would stop a couple of minutes in to the programme, the engineer diagnosed that one of two flood detection systems was faulty, namely the diaphram based system situated at the front of the undertray, he disabled it by disconnecting the pressure pipe from it and instead connecting it to a stub on the housing, the engineer suggested that the other flood control system would cut in if required.
The machine was fine afterwards.
Any ideas why this time the machine wont commence a programme and this error code appears after a while?
I am guessing that it is drain pump related, i.e the pump is not running (hence no sign of action) so the machine does not detect any drop in level. If it is pump related could it be a blockage, a fuse or simply the motor failed?
With thanks.
