    Hi!
Please, please can some one help! There is a beer in for you!
We recently bought a Smeg dishwasher, a DWF409 SS.
It’s a great looking machine, which works well – when it isn’t trying to look like a cheap disco – with a load of lights flashing!

The error code isn’t listed, the 3 left programme setting lights flash, alon with the low rinse aid light and the 2 right hand side phase lights!

It also makes a horrid ‘ticking’ sound as it does this!!!!

It eventually goes back to the ‘ready’ state – but only after I’ve got a massive pile of dishes waiting to be done! AAAGGGHHH!

    HELP!

    Re: SMEG Error!

You could try the reset procedure which you’ll find by doing a forum search for “smeg reset” and/or “diplomat reset”.

If that doesn’t work, you’ll need an engineer as that many lights flashing isn’t an error code, it may be the electronics have been upset by a component failure or the electronics themselves have failed.

Incidently, when you say “purchased recently”, if it’s still less than 12 months old, simply call Smeg Service and they will arrange for an enginner for you.

If not, then you should find one from this link:

    Re: SMEG Error!

Thanks Dave I’ll try that in a moment.

So gutted, it’s our 1st one – only a month old!

I will try customer services on Monday, but I know how funny these companies can be!

I also didn’t mention that if you try to instigate a programme when it is in this state, it bleeps 6 or 7 times (depending on it’s mood!)

Thanks for your advice – I’ll give it a go.

Great forum, I’m gonna tell all me mates!

I’ll let you know how I get on.

    Re: SMEG Error!

As it’s only a month old, please don’t try anything other than the reset as you may invalidate your warranty.

Smeg customer service on the whole is very good 😀

    Dave.
