Fridge been fine for years, then just defrosts itself overnight, possible door open ? We empty the wasted freezer goods, then switch off to clean. After 24hr switched back on, left for another 24hr to get to temp, just warm air circulating, no frost forming on the coil, all fans & lights fine, however, heard clicking noise near compressor, which is warm/hot, but no noise and no cold air being produced. The starter unit/block, on closer inspection has fused inside, pieces of plastic and a circular disc are shattered.
Is this repairable please, everything ran fine for years, then sudden defrost = the end ?

Thanks for looking, still researching this issue, trying to find other suitable fixes…one is the hard start kit !
Various universal options, just trying to make sure on compatibility.

The RCO kits are good, often use them here.
From the wattage of the compressor work out bthe hp and fit the appropriate one.they do 1/10th 1/8th 1/6th 1/5th,etc,divide 746watts(1hp) by the wattage of your compressor and the fractional answer will be the size of universal starter/relay kit you need.
Contact me if you cant find one.
