Smeg Fab28bl6 Door seal

We have just replaced the door seal with the correct part, but find that the magnetic strip doesnt seem to be working any more.
We did put it on the wrong way first! We do know that we have it on the right way now. But the door does not seem to have a proper contact as it shuts and it opens too easily. The fridge seems to be working correctly, seems cold enough.
Is there a trick to compressing the seal to make it have a good contact all round with the main part of the fridge?

if the seal does not seem to contact at various places then warming it with a hair dryer ( not too much) will soften the plastic so when you close it and it hardens again it should sit better
