Hi, I need some help. I have a smeg fridge FAB30AZS5. The seal on the fridge broke and it was not keeping anything cold.

So I bought a replacement seal which was £70 and when the Smeg fridge enginer came round he said the seal cannot be replaced and we need a whole new door unit.

Does anybody know if this is true?

If so then why do Smeg sell seals for my model?

I’m totally rubbish with stuff like this and it’s really frustrating that I may have to spend hundreds of pounds on a new door for a fridge that cost me over £1300 in the first place.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

From memory and, one of the Smeg guys like Lawrence and Mark may well know better, you can replace the seal but it’s a foamed door.

It needs a bit of care and a lot of time to do it but, if I am correct, it can be done.

If it is what I think, it’s only really doable with the door off though, to do it in situ would be a bit of a nightmare.

    K.
