SMEG FAB32 Compressor Continuous Running

Hi All,
Made an error of judgement and bought a FAB32 from Ebay. It appeared to work OK at first but seems to be struggling to keep cold.

The freezer temp warning light is on (not reached temperature) and the left compressor (when viewed from the rear) is much hotter than the right compressor. The compressors also seem to run continuously.

I’ve also noticed that the compressors appear to be different, would that suggest one has been changed ? The left one is marked “Danfoss” and the right one “VOE” I’ve attached a pic.

I’m guessing loss of gas or compressor failure, any suggestions ?

The machine may well be fitted with two different compressors from new, they are different power outputs for the two cabinets. The left hand one is indeed the freezer pot, the right hand one is for the fridge which should be totally unaffected by the fault.

If the fz pot is running continuously then yes it is either short of coolant or it is worn. Either way quite an expensive fix i’m afraid 😕
