ParticipantHi, I am looking for advice if anyone can help. We have just bought a Smeg fab 32rng the seller sold the appliance as new and has now disappeared when we had a issue. The freezer works with no problems the fridge does not seam to get cold, the fan in the top of the fridge works ok but the number on the display at the top flashing number nine all the time. Any ideas on what could be wrong or what parts need changing. Thanks

KeymasterI don’t think it’s new. I think it was made till about 2015/16 but I’d need the full serial number to be able to confirm that for you.
The fridge draws cold air from the freezer so there is a freezer evaporator motor but that won’t be the problem is the freezer is getting down to an average of -18˚C, you need to check it is with a reasonably good thermometer. That is the first thing to establish as if that’s not getting down to temp the fridge will never run on most.
Next your into thermistors and the fridge fan motor as if the thermistor is iffy it won’t bring on the fan motor. IF it does but the fan motor is kaput, same result… no cooling in the fridge.
There’s not a simple answer, only a lot of testing.

ParticipantHi, thanks for your reply, the serial no is S/N 7090100111. I checked the temperature in the freezer I have it set to -24c and the reading is -18 c – 24 c. I have removed the cover from the inside of the fridge at the top where the fan is, when you close the door and open the fridge door again the light comes on and you can see the fan spinning. The fan stops when the door is open, and if you open and close it the fan goes off and on. Is there a fan in the freezer that pushes the cold up to the fridge?. Thanks

KeymasterSounds like you may have a blockage in the air channel then.

ParticipantHi, thanks for your reply, where is the air channel at, and how do I clear it. Have you any drawings that I could use. Thanks
