Hi, hoping for a bit of diagnostic help. I have a Smeg DUC04SS double oven/grill. The top oven/grill has a fault, with the grill.

I am confident the element is ok, though when the ‘full grill’ is selected there is no full grill. in fact there is no grill at all. If half grill’ is selected – the half grill comes on sometimes. The top oven works ok and the thermostat appears to be functioning.

I started thinking it was the grill regulator (RH control) then began to think it might be the selector control (2nd from Right). Now I’m not sure – any tips on diagnosis gratefully received. I am pretty competent on taking the oven to pieces and testing what is required just not sure how to eliminate certain components. If course it could be something I’ve not considered,

    many thanks in anticipation,

    John B

    Re: Smeg grill problem

It might help if you post up the model number…some of these are shockers for loose connections on the selector switch causing it to burn out.

If thats the case have a look for burnt or discoloured insulators on the switch connections…if there are any then it will have damaged the switch itself.

Fully isolated at all times when working on it :zap:
