    Re: Smeg/homeserve

Ah right, you guys won’t be getting developer work then for the builders I assume?

Basically, they were never off the bl00dy phone or email wanting continual updates on calls because that’s the deal they have with Smeg, I assumed to stave off Homeserve. I got fed up with it one day when I got seven pages of updates being asked for, almost every call we had live for them all wanting updated.

Add to that those poxy Whirlpool fridges that we were getting recall after recall on for duff boards or because they supplied the wrong ones and I just spoke to Sue one day and told her that it just wasn’t worth the effort for the £40 (IIRC) we were getting paid. And, on top, we have that Servevast recharge DAG at a rate MUCH higher than they paid us.

For the rate they paid, when they paid after chasing them, it just wasn’t worth the hassle.

Great money on chargeable work when it’s the normal stuff but not good at all when you get into all the weird stuff they started with.

Plus, I really hated those damn FABs. 😉

    K.

We are on £40 a job and it might please you to know we have only recently been upped to that rate.
The smeg spares web site is a pain though as customers are telling me what prices I should be charging for spares on chargeable jobs. I no longer quote part numbers on customers reciepts for that reason. Must admit though I am getting a fair bit of chargeable work from them so not going to rock the boat yet. and yes Ken, What update are you talking about?

Yes I know the discount has changed. Right PITA as we have to double check prices, addded to that you are right about the Smeg website prices. I’d rather they were artificially high.

The engineers tech portal is a bloody joke. If you need a pdf file you have to request it is added to the portal, it may already be there but even the one you requested is a pig to find.

The update thing, Ah you mean the e-mails asking about status of calls where we have parts on order from them, and they should be able to anwer their own questions.

About time they paid me more, and I will probably work on it later in the year. At present we are still busy, and I’m waiting to see if there are any signs of a slow down, and if there is I may be glad of them.

    Time will tell.
