    Hi
I am a bit stumped now. My oven stopped working. No temp light or anything.
After some testing i have found that everything works fine if i bypass the thermal cut out at the back. I have even replaced it with a new one but still doesn’t work. Yet when i disconnect and bypass it, all is fine.
    Any help please
    Thanks

You’ve not fitted the correct part I would think. You’ve sussed the fault for sure but the part you replaced it with is wrong. Try and source the right one.

Do you know if it should be normally closed or open? The thermal cut out.

    Normally closed.

I am pretty sure it’s the exact same part. Why would the cut out kick in instantly on turning the switch to on? When the on switch is turned to either oven or grill the temp light flashes on for like a millisecond. Like it’s trying to come on but something is cutting it out I.e (thermal cut out)

Well you didn’t tell us the model number of this Smeg oven but generally a TOC only operates when temperature exceeds the pre-set limit (say 180Celsius). So from cold ( i.e on switch on) there’s no way that’s going to happen to such a part. So I have no clue what’s going on there TBH. 🙁

Se335ss/1 is the model number. Apologies, my mistake.

In that case the correct TOC is THIS one.

I have read conflicting messages about whether they should be normally open or normally closed.
