This oven has been burning the cakes and it’s obvious the main stat is defunct. However, when testing it I noticed that the base of the cavity had bulged up so it looks a bit like a golf course (but without the holes and flags, or the clubhouse for that matter).
Can someone confirm that this will be a curling base element? I’ve never noticed this before.

    Hi

This is caused by the customer leaving a tray ect or covering with foil.

This then stops the heat tranferance through to the oven cavity correctly keeping the heat within the base area. Thus the oven taking a lot longer to heat upto the correct temprature and incorrect oven tempratures.

Thanks for your response, Bryan. I am a bit puzzled by your answer.
The stat is definitely gone. I put a thermocouple in at the same level as the stat and it heated up well past 100 without light going out at min. setting. That’s with oven empty.
Do you think it’ll need a new base element as well? Have you seen this bulging effect? And do I understand correctly that the curling of the base element (if that is what it is) is caused by something being left in there?
    Mike.
