Element went in my SMEG SO66CCS-5 oven and tripped the electrics. Reset electrics and nothing but the cooling fan (on continuously) and the light work. (Haven’t replaced element yet but joined the two cables for the time being incase it made a difference) I’ve had elements go before but usually the fan, grill, conventional oven still work after I reset the rcd. The neon doesn’t even come on for the themrostat either.

I stripped her down and took a look, the switches look fine and the thermal cut out isn’t open circuit. Can’t see burn marks anywhere on the switch or terminal block, I don’t suppose anyone has any other ideas. Bit stumped with this. Thanks.

By doing that you’ve blown something, surprised you didn’t hear a loud bang
Get an engineer in if I was you

Ah i see, nah no bangs or nothing. Thought you could bypass the same way you can bypass a TOC that’s open circuit to get the oven to run. Will ring engineer before i kill myself 🙂
