SMEG PULLEY

Hi changed a smeg pulley on a wdi12c about 2 months ago because it was loose. the customer has rang and said its the same problem. I have taken of the pulley and it is loose. Dont know whether the bolt is required because the washer is a bit like a dome dont know if this is ment to be like this. any help would be great.

Anyone else come across this problem ❓
I’ve got the same problem and just wondered if it’s a case of the pulley wearing and needing replaced or if it’s due to excess vibration that this machine seems prone to.Bearings seem ok but huge amount of pulley wobble just throws the belt off.

Connect list 2 different pulleys for this model 😕 the one fitted seems to be 876370036.

For the WDI12C part number 876370036 is listed as being the one for “Rev 2” but none listed as an alternative. It does say on there that this is for “2 bearings” so I assume that there’s one with one of those horrid single big bearings as well.

To get any more I’d have to ask Smeg Tech which I can if you like?

876370037 should be the one for the big single bearing.

It does seem to be a common problem on Smeg machines. I had to supply a pulley to someone the other week to fix this wobbling. It would probably be cheaper to get some shim steel, e.g. a set of feeler gauges, and shim up the old pulley. The odd thing is, Hotpoint WMA alloy pulleys were a very sloppy fit on the shaft from day 1 but it never caused a problem.

I went to one of these on Friday, and due to the powdery residue in the cabinet below the pulley and the residue left on the pulley bolt’s washer, I assumed it was a bonded fibre/steel washer that the fibre has disintegrated from.
That would explain the 2mm or thereabouts gap between the steel washer and the pulley.

I was expecting to be able to find the spare as a replacement and looking at the exploded view on Connect’s website, I’m going for item ref 13118, part no 897210169, although Connect’s description of WASHER FLAT FOR COUNTERWEIGHT seems to suggest that washer’s for a different place.
I’m going to order one and try it, anyway.

Yep, it was a counterweight washer, alright!
I filed out a large washer to fit the profile in the meantime and used that as a spacer – seems to have done the trick.
