Thinking of buying a Smeg 90cm induction hob range cooker to replace our 20 year old Britannia which needs some restoring now.

What are they like? Build quality? What about reliability?

Also they have a Pyrolitic clean version. How good is this and dose it work? Does it fill the house with smoke whilst doing it?

Pretty okay for the money and better than many is the short answer.

The Britannia you have was made by Ilve, might be worth looking at them as well.

llive cookers circa £3600, Britannia circa £2600, Smeg circa £1600 for induction type range cookers

With that in mind are you saying that Smeg are pretty good ‘value for money’ buy?

So are they an inferior build quality compared to llve and Britannia?
