ParticipantHi All
I have a smeg range cooker MODEL SUK91MFX that recently blew a fan element and at the same time the timer/clock stopped working. I replaced the element (and the adjoining one while I had the back off ) but when I re-connected the cooker the timer was still out. ( I thought it may have been used as an indicator that the element had blown) So I have purchased a replacement timer but unfortunatley it didn’t work either when I fitted it. So my question is how do I check to see if the timer is getting the supply to make it work and what should I be looking for? (voltage etc…)Also if possible where it would the supply be coming from?
Thanks 😀January 14, 2007 at 8:40 pm #200789Penguin45

UKWhitegoods will not assist you with live testing. It is unneccessary in almost all cases.
You should check the thermal cutout on the rear of the machine. It is inline with the timer and may well have been wiped out in the bang. Basic circuit testing should give you the answers.

Penguin45.Thanks for the reply – can you help me identify the thermal cut-out at the rear of the machine? I have a cct diagram but can’t see a reference to it. Thanks

Fred,
We can’t walk you through it step by step – Forum Rules, top of the Forum. If I remember my SMEGese correctly, the safety should be marked T/S on your diagram and be inline with the the timer (E/P).
