SMEF SYD4110bl Range duel fuel cooker. SN 173059650504054B0110

Main oven tripped RCBO during use, it didnt get upto temperature as far as I can tell.

Tried the second fan oven, after a period that also tripped the RCBO.

At the time it imediately tripped when the fan oven was selected but oven fan and cooling fan were both operational, the cleaning cycle could be selected without tripping.
    Next day
Main oven selector switch doesnt initiate any response, the temperature light is off, the oven fan doesnt start and neither does the cooling fan.

Second oven turns on when cold but it tripps when it has warmed up, I have not yet assessed the temperature it gets to, I can dig out my BBQ thermometer and test that. The secondary oven doesnt trip when the cleaning cycle is selected but it does when either fan mode or non fan mode is selected.

The grill is working fine and gets upto temperature.

I have tested the elements of the main oven with a meter and all three show continuity and resistance around the 50ohm range. There is no continuity to earth at least at cold temperatures and resistance is infinite.

No obvious signs of burnt wiring or poor connections from the back.

I have been unable to determine what there is in the way of electronics as unable to locate wiring diagram and using a torch to investigate. The spares diagram indicates that the thermocouples link to a module or the temperature selection switch itself. The have not been able to conclusivly determine if htere is any circuit boards. The oven has a simple timer module and is not programmable beyond setting a cooking time and turnoff time.

I have not yet worked out how to get the front panel off to get a closer look at the controls.

I suspect the main oven control selector switch will need replacing as it doesnt activate the lights cooling fans etc but without a circuit diagram I am unable to determine how the secondary oven may be linked without trying to draw one from scratch.

I have set the timer to enable the oven to operate as ovens wont work until a time is set. (doesnt need to be correct time)

Thank you in advance for any advice or guidance you can offer.

That is an unusual set of things to happen all at once. And, I suspect, could be more than one problem to find.

There are no electronics as such in that cooker, though having the service indix or SI number will help as there are multiple versions, you only really have the clock, beyond that it’s all old school electro-mechanical switches etc.

I’d first look for anything obvious on the switches, burning, arcing or something clearly broken then go from there.

Hi Thank you for the response.
So apart from very slight discolouration on one of the wires where it gets close to the burner above, there is no signs of arching or burning on the switch that controlls the main oven. I have used a meter to determine that the switch appears to be functioning as it should.

I have checked the wiring connector for the main oven at the back of the cooker just under the hob and that shows no signs of burning or arcing.

    Very confused

About all I can think of is an earth leak somewhere, but finding it will be a nightmare I suspect.

The fastest way, if possible, is try to work out what’s energised when the problem occurs to try and narrow it down. That said the main oven not firing up at all is a bit of an issue unless it’s on auto or the clock isn’t allowing power to it assuming that the switch is okay.

The main oven that your saying nothing works the possibility is it could be a toc the second oven probably has earth leakage on a element when its warm as I’m guessing it doesn’t get used often
