ParticipantHi,
Was only here a week ago about the dishwasher that’s packed up, currently waiting for the engineer for that. Now it’s the oven… this house we’ve moved into has given us a fair share of problems in our first month! It’s a double oven and the lower oven is working fine. The upper oven has power, the grill works and gets hot but the fan doesn’t and there’s no heat from the oven. Am thinking it’s the element….? Had a similar problem with a Diplomat model at my old house and managed to change the element myself. Is this something I can do on this one (if it is the element of course)?
Also I have a bill that previous owner left for replacing this element from only 9 months ago. Any underlying reason why it should have gone again so soon?
As always thanks in advance for your help…

Try the clock – it may be set on auto. Check your manual for setting procedure – if you don’t have the manual post the type of clock you have and we can advise you on how to set it.
The clock automatic will only control the fan oven function and not the grill. This could be all that is wrong with your machine. 😉Hope that helps,
Steve.

Hi,
Thanks for that, have checked that the timer is on manual and have reset the clock (it’s been showing 2.30 since we moved in a month ago). It’s an analogue clock, looks quite old and the “minute minder” knob is a bit broken though still turns – just. Still no joy, the oven is making a noise which I think could be the fan but there’s definitely no heat still. Grill and lower oven continues to work.
Element?Thanks in advance.

This is worth a read:
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ge&pid=103You can get access to see the element in yours by removing the the rear panel in the oven box. Unfortunately, the element is actually secured by nuts from the rear of the oven.
Power off before touching anything.

Right, so whilst to actually replace the element the oven will have to come out, I can get a look at it by removing the rear panel inside the oven? Will it be clear that the element has gone, I read the link you gave and it shows a pic of an element with a sort of fuzzy bit on it. Is this what indicates it’s blown? Sorry if this is a stupid question….
With thanks.

Yup, back panel in oven box – 4 or 6 screws depending on model. If you’re lucky, the element will be visibly damaged – the fizz, splits, blow holes and breakages are all easy to spot. However, they do sometimes just die and a resistance test with a meter would be required.

Thank you, will get it switched off, opened up and have a look to see if any signs of damage.
Thanks again! -
