SO, this has happened twice before. First the ignition stops working, then after a few weeks/months, the oven refuses to stay alight as a result, I think of a failsafe making it cutout. Have had it repaired on previous occasions(think it was thermocoupling but don’t quote me) and want to know really if its worth doing again.ie.spend £100 for the sakeof working oven for 2 years! Any advice as to whether to fix, replace and if latter what with???

I can find no reference to the model number you have quoted.
It’s difficult to call really – thermocouples are cheap enough, however, the work must be carried out by a CORGI registered engineer – it’s the balance between what you wish to spend on maintenance.
SMEG is an upper mid-range brand, so not cheap to replace on a like for like basis. Their appliances are generally reliable and if specific issues arise, modifications and updates are carried out.
