Smeg suk61mpx5 thermostat issue

Hi

For a while now, the oven has had an issue with the thermostat – when set to zero it would flash between 0 degrees in the display and the time, so we would set it to a temperature (with the oven off) which would result in the time being displayed properly.

I think this points to a fault in the thermostat pot – but if anyone knows otherwise that would be useful.

However, the oven has developed a new fault today, where upon it does not always switch off the heat once teh required temperature has been reached, resulting in burnt food.

Therefore I would be interested to know if this could be one fault or more, and if so where to start, I would imagine the pot needs replacing, but how can I trouble shoot the other components?

Also, if any one knows if I have to remove the hob to do this job, could they also advise on how to lift it, as it looks like there are screws next to the gas jets which look they need to be disconnected before it can be lifted.

Start with the temp probe. 😉

If that gives false readings it’ll do stuff that makes no sense. Like no heat and non stop heat.
