Smeg SUK91MFX No heat fan oven – replaced elements

Hi, I’ve inherited a Smeg SUK91MFX5 range cooker which has no heat when used on the fan oven setting.

The grill and conventional oven work fine, when put onto the fan oven setting the fans spin but there is no heat. After researching I realised the most likely problem was the elements so I ordered 2 from Smeg (genuine parts), however there is still no heat. What else could be the problem?

I’m not quite sure about the wiring at the back and how it all works, the new elements have 2 connectors on each end, I have plugged the spade connector onto one of these on each end of the element – is that right? (Sorry it’s hard to explain). One purple and one red wire – assuming these are live and neutral and it doesn’t matter which way round? I was also sent 3 securing screws but don’t seem to have needed them – is this right?!

Did you change the circular element around the fan.

Control regulator behind the knob could be faulty.. but if this is the problem it is not the job of the layman.

Yes it was the circular fan elements – there are 2 fans and 2 elements which I replaced. I rang up smeg/servevast and they quoted me £80 just to send an engineer out. I am basically trying to make sure I fitted these correctly as I don’t think I am able to repair any other fault myself, don’t really want to shell out hundreds of pounds if the rest of the oven works normally.

No – I replaced the fan elements because there was no heat on the fan setting, however this has not been resolved after replacing them – there is still no heat. Thermostat light does come on however.
