The bottom heating element of my Smeg UK60MFX1 cooker has blown. I want to get a replacement spare and fit it, but when I had a look, the thing looks v difficult to remove. Is it possible to pop it out with leverage from something like a screwdriver, or do I need to call out an engineer?

The element is secured from the back, by two screws. That should release it.

The element required is p/no 806890366 – you can order one at a good price from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk .

Stay safe – power off when working on your machine.
