Smeg uk60mfx1 fan oven not working

Hi,

My faithful Smeg uk60mfx1 has just developed a fault with the fan assisted oven and I wonder if anybody could help me with a diagnosis.

There is nothing wrong with the clock/timer, the grill works fine and heats up, the conventional oven works and heats up fine. The light in the oven works, as does the actual fan, but when I put the fan assisted oven on here is no heat generated (although the fan still works)

Could anybody advise me as to what this could be?

Hi Rebecca,

From what you’ve described I’d be pretty sure it was just a cade of the fan oven element being faulty, this is the cheap version of that element…

Sometimes you do need to mess about with them though as Smeg have changed the mounting of the element several times, they are all fully interchangeable but can be a bit of a faff to fit.
