Hello, new to all this forum, so hopefully doing this right.

Smeg oven does not turn on, no light no fan. Opened the hob and the oven dial switch thingy burned out on the grill setting. Seems to be marked 3073/21.

Had two replaced by engineer when under warrenty, in 2002.

Is this a DIY job? My husband seems confidant.
Are there other problems associated with this burn out, that I should check before ordering the replacement? Would like to order all parts at the same time.

I have read all the other 12 pages, and haven’t seen this problem!

    thanks for any available help
    Christine 😛

Whilst there may be no other failure evident, please take care care replacing the switch. Check the terminations at the switch carefully for poor or loose connections.

I would strongly recommend insulation testing to be carried out to eliminate other possible failure modes.

If you don’t have access to such equipment, then locate an engineer via the Repairs@ module.

If you decide to tackle this yourself, please, please pull the plug or turn off the controlling MCB or pull the fuse :zap:

Re: Smeg UK80MFX1 oven switch fail

Hello, thanks for all switch advice –

My husband was adamant that he could change the melted switch, we ordered from Interspares – £5.00 less than Smeg and hey-presto working oven!

And now my range has that deep-down clean…
    Power off, Christine
