Latest problem with this cooker is the thermal cutout goes and takes all oven and instrument panel power outwhen the fan oven has been on for a while – resets after about 20 mins. It does feel like the top of the cooker is warmer than it would usually be when this hapens – is this likely to be caused by a failed fan ? or a dody sensor would you think ?

Any thoughts on a decent 80cm cooker appreciated – this one has been rather less than “average” so far.

There is no cooling fan fitted on this one, so it more or less has to be the safety thermostat gone out of calibration.

P/no 818730566 – an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering.

Thanks – looking at the pic on the Smeg site it seems simple enough to fit – but where does the probe bit go – is that a simple job – I ask because I have done variety of parts on this model but am by no means an expert – and I don’t want to take it apart if I can’t fix it.

What probe? The main oven stat has a capillary tube and probe – the safety stat is 2 screw fitting “button” stat screwed to the back.

    Re: SMEG UK80MFX1 thermal cutout

Hmmm – as it happened I had a spare thermal cutout as they sent me one a couple or so years ago – before they got computerised – I just replaced it and the same thing occurs with the new one – oven on for about 30mins and then …… cutout. I’m sort of sure it’s doing it because it’s supposed to because it does seem that the knobs etc are MUCH hotter than they used to get before the cutouts started (with the oven door closed anyway) – appreciate any further thoughts (or comments on NewWorld vs Stoves 80cm models).

    Re: SMEG UK80MFX1 thermal cutout

Now folks – I hate to disagree with anyone in public – but this cooker has always had a noise of a secondary fan that starts after the machine gets warm and keeps on droning for ages fater the oven is off – that noise is gone now – and if you open the oven door and look through the slot above the oven cavity and below the hob there appears to be a duct with a (5 inch diameter/ 1 inch high = roughly) horizontally mounted fan at the end of it – it doesn’t spin any more.

Is it simple (and by simple I also mean economical) to fix this fault – which I presume is the motor for it ?

Unusual for tangential fan to suddenly pack in unless some rubble has dropped into it or its laden with grease and fluff.

Please be aware that this is a gas appliance and that no advice, other than to obtain the services of a CORGI engineer, can be offered -especially as the fan is situated under the hob.

Thank you one and all for your input – so far I have been lucky and have reused all the extra spares Smeg sent me some years ago – the fault was the fan delay stat for the cooling fan and I had one of those – if something else goes it;s going on Ebay !!

    Re: SMEG UK80MFX1 thermal cutout

Me again – I really must buy a new cooker – still on the lookout for a decent 80cm model…

The cooling fan – the thing that keeps going when the oven has been used and switched off now refuses to stop – even after a power cycle (obviously it stops when it is switched off) – any thoughts on the part required for this would be appreciated 🙂
