To start at the beginning, the oven has tripped the main circuit breaker a couple of times but then been ok for a while. Until it happens again. All this very random until the oven and or grill was tripping evey time we used them.
Now the weirdest thing happens the timer/clock goes off as if there has been a loss of power when no one is any where near the cooker and it is no being used. then at random time after it will come back on. (I am sorry this is beginning to sound like War and peace) Anyway the timer goes on and off when it wants.
    Any ideas???????

from the sound of it you have a loose electrical joint

start with the terminal block at the back of the unit and work back from there

I had a look round the back and under the cover found the mains lead terminal block. The middle wire just came away in my hand. Surpised it worked at all.
Any ideas what would cuse this as the mains input leads seem to be done up tight.
Can I just replace with a 20amp terminal block or do I need the Smeg part?

    (hope that worked)
