ParticipantHi All,
I wonder if someone can advise. Our Smeg UKST710 built in dishwasher recently stopped draining. I managed to get underneath the diswasher and found that the drain pump was stuck. I turned the pump fins and got the pump turning again. This solved the draining problem, but I think I must have damaged a seal on the pump as there is a vast amount of water collecting under the machine during a wash cycle. Also the draining cycle also make a lot more noise than previously(dodgy bearings I think).
The advice I need is: I am thinking of purchasing a new pump, are they reasonably easy to fit, or would the advice be that I pay the extra money and get a repair person to do it.
Many Thanks

KeymasterIf you’ve gone that far then changing the pump is reasonably easy so long as you’re confident enough to do it. I’ll fire up a shop link in the morning for the pump once I dig up the info on it for you as I don’t have it to hand here at home.

Good heavens – haven’t seen one of them in ages………. 😀 .
We can assume that the pump seal has gone, and water has got into the front bearing. Spinning it by the cooling fan has broken it free, so it will run, but water is leaking out.
If you contact spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and ask for an SM5101, they’ll supply the pump for you. Last price I recall was about £25 (it was a few years back), so not too terrible.
It’s a twist fit into the lower housing, so no reason you shouldn’t do this yourself, providing you unplug it first!

Many thanks for your prompt replies.
I am pretty confident then that I can do it myself. I just needed confirmation that it wasn’t a massive job.
Concerning the part I would appreciate a shop link to the part as I have looked around the web and the pump seems pretty scarce, and when I do find one its quite pricey.
Cheers for your advice once again.
