KeymasterWe have three (at least) of these to do in… yep, you guessed it, Glasgow City Centre, and I do mean the centre! 🙁
Now rumours abound that the mod doesn’t cure the problem and that it’s an absolute pig of a job, each one taking 2 hours plus to do.
What I’m looking for is comments from anyone that’s done this and just how much of a sod it is so that I can charge accordingly as, if it is as bad as I’m being told, a double call just ain’t gonna cut it.
Oh and all these will be on wooden floors, probably with more bounce than a trampoline. 🙁
And yes, I am in a bad mood today. 😈

I can confirm that the mod doesn’t work and, yes it takes over 2 hours to do them 👿
We did four all on one site only to return to find one in the middle of the kitchen being restrained from going any further by the fill hoses 😯
Two weeks later, back to the same site to install four diferent models, slower spin versions 😉

KeymasterYeah, where have we heard before….
“There’s absolutely no problem with the machine at all, it is not at fault and there is no danger or risk in it’s use”
But here’s a modification and we’ll pay you to go and do it.
Uh huh, okay then….

I have had two of these ,one the woman refused the repair and requested an exchange which smeg honoured ,Guess what, her exchange was exactly the same ,Smeg sugggested the mod she suggested a refund she won 😀
The second ~new install dancing across kitchen smeg suggested mod I
refused as you couldnt swing a cat in the kitchen they exchanged I installed yesterday and they were on the phone this morning its the same as her first machine 🙁 ,Did’t somebody mention Bosch using this machine and having a problem ? does anyone from smeg or servast watch the site can they help ?

KeymasterYeah I heard that Bosch used them as well and had exactly the same issues, shocker, but there’s not a problem. 😕
As far as I can gather Bosch have now dropped using the Smeg or at least dropped it to the 1200rpm machine.

I heard that Bosch used them as well
Advise from Bosch is that if you screw feet right into base of machine and it still waltzes they will refund purchase price and advise customer to purchase a machine from alternative manufacturer??

Ok this is getting silly ,I have today installed a third exchange Appliance for the same customer and it’s walking across the blasted kitchen ,I also have two more to look at in the same block of apartments .
I also have another one ongoing in a kitchen with a brand new limestone tile floor where Smeg are insisting I modify the machine however the cust will not sign a disclaimer for the floor ,And is saying why should he accept a modification of this scale on a new machine ? there is also another one in that development where Smeg have cut straight to the chase and have told me to order a mod kit before calling !
Smeg technical say they have a 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} success rate with this mod .
what I need to know is has anyone carrried out a succesfull mod to one of these and how long did it take ?Lawrence
Just had a thought in the one where its her third exchange the fitters have used worktop as the base to raise it up to compensate for the plinth but this is standard practice isn’t it ?

ParticipantCuriously enough, I went to one which was blocked in Leeds city centre last week. The machine was stood on a 600x600x30mm section of worktop. This was screwed to the floor, and the front feet had been drilled through and screwed to this “plinth”. Cleared blockage and did a rinse and spin (laundry still in) – made the most Godawful noise – BUT didn’t go anywhere.
