SMEG WDI 12 Bearing Replacement

I have a SMEG WDI 12 washer/dryer and is needing replacment drum bearings. TYP 22038 – NUMBER 0463422 383 It is coincidently the same as my old Bauknecht machine so i rescued the main bits off that apart from the ‘spider’ 🙁

Is it possible to replace these bearings myself as I cannot find a kit on the website or if not, is there a complete spider available which would make life easier for me but a little more expensive.

I am an mechanical engineer and i can see the pulley side bearing is an off the shelf type available at minimal costs. It would be nice to purchase from this website a complete kit, 2 bearings and seal with some basic instruction too. 😉

Bearing kit complete to suit your machine is SM0501 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to supply you promptly.

Cross piece has to come off for full access, so blower motor, drive motor and pulley all have to go before loosing off the retaining bolts.

Make sure everything is spotless before re-assembly…..

Got bearing kit and fitted this PM, about 4 hours. All sweet as a nut now, thanks for the info. Biggest part of job was cleaning everything up of all the ‘crud’ and limescale.
